Town of Friday Harbor employees are replacing the Park Street sewer and water main. Work will start at the Marguerite Place intersection, the week of May 8.

The Marguerite Place and Park Street intersection will be closed for about one a day and a half. Drivers can ease congestion by using the detour route.

Local vehicles will have access to the intersection but will endure about 15-minute delays. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk, but workers advise them to look out for heavy machinery.

Flaggers will be placed at the site and deputies will make extra patrols of the area. Traffic ticket fines are double in construction zones.

Construction started the week of May 1 near the Price Street intersection.

Town officials thank residents for their patience and cooperation.
