Megan Christine Mackinnon, 27, of Arlington, Wash., is charged with malicious mischief in the first degree.

She allegedly caused physical damage in excess of $5,000 to a flat-screen television on June 23 and to a Ford Ranger pickup truck and an Acura car on June 26. Both incidents occurred on Lopez Island.

Her arraignment date is Aug. 26 at 9 a.m.

According to the deputy’s report, the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a hit and run on June 26 at 6:05 a.m. A Lopez Island man told dispatch that Mackinnon had driven her Toyota Corolla into his Ford Ranger and then into an Acura, which was also on his property. The second car belonged to one of Mackinnon’s family members. The deputy found Mackinnon attempting to catch the 7:15 a.m. ferry sailing to Anacortes. He photographed her vehicle, which had minor damage. According to the deputy’s report, Mackinnon said she was blamed by another person who actually did the damage. The deputy allowed Mackinnon to board the ferry and he then returned to the scene of the alleged crime. At the home the deputy noted “numerous tire marks in the gravel.” The man who made the initial report said she hit the side of his truck and the corner of another car, scraping the bumper and breaking the taillight. He told the deputy Mackinnon smashed into a large rock and a trampoline frame. There was evidence of the broken trampoline strewn on the driveway.

The reporting party also stated that Mackinnon broke a flat screen TV in his home that Saturday along with a lamp and a small heater.

A friend of Mackinnon was also interviewed by the deputy. The friend said on that Friday he had a very relaxing day with Mackinnon, but she started acting out by making offensive comments to patrons that evening at a local restaurant. When they arrived to the house where the crime allegedly occurred, the friend told deputies that Mackinnon started “kicking things, slamming the gate and doors.”
