Lytton in Friday Harbor, Wednesday; budget cuts, public education top agenda

Lawmakers in Olympia will be looking to cut another $1.4 billion to $2 billion from the state's next two-year budget when they meet later this month in "special session". Find out what state Rep. State Representative Kristine Lytton will be on San Juan Island Wednesday to talk about pending cuts in the state’s next two-year budget and the impact those cuts may have on funding for public education.

Because an anticipated shortfall in revenue, lawmakers will be looking to cut another $1.4 billion to $2 billion from the state’s 2011/2013 biennial budget when they meet in “special session” later this month.

Lytton, D-Anacortes, will meet with teachers, administrators, parents and community members as part of a roundtable discussion at Friday Harbor Middle School Commons, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The meeting is open to the public.
