Local dog trainer Lisa Holt and Dr. Mandy Gulla are presenting at this year’s Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP) conference about training Parkinson’s alert dogs. Lisa’s PADs for Parkinson’s training program is the first of its kind in the nation to train dogs to detect odors associated with Parkinson’s. Dr. Gulla practices naturopathic medicine on San Juan Island at her clinic, Living Medical Arts, and has been training her dog Piglet as an early alert dog since 2021. Lisa and Mandy will be joined by collaborator Dr. Peter Ledochowitsch of Canary to talk about his company’s collaboration with the program to develop bioelectronic noses.
