Lighthouse Preschool students Violet Espinoza, 5 and Wade Oldwyn, 4 show off the green trash bags they plan to use to collect trash during this weekend’s Great Island Clean Up.

“I choose to pick up trash at the beach!” said Violet.

“I’m going to clean this island. I’m going to clean our world,” added Wade.

The Great Island Clean Up takes place, rain or shine, this Saturday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to noon on San Juan, Orcas and Lopez islands in honor of Earth Day today.
