Let freedom ring; help support 4th of July FH fireworks show

Because an evening full of rockets red glare doesn't happen for free, each year the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce is tasked with raising roughly $15,000 to pay for the show. This year is no different.

Friday Harbor’s Fourth of July fireworks show is only a month away… or is it?

Because an evening full of rockets red glare doesn’t happen for free, each year the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce is tasked with raising roughly $15,000 to pay for the show.

This year is no different.

The Town of Friday Harbor, Port of Friday Harbor and the Valmark company consistently chip in to help finance the annual fireworks display, and this year Vic’s Drive In is sponsoring fundraising drive — a matching-donation challenge — at its Second Street eatery as well.

But the Chamber could use your help and your support.

Donations can be made at various Friday Harbor shops and stores (just look for the red-white-and-blue donation canister near the checkout counters), by stopping by the chamber office, 135 Spring Street, by mail, P.O. Box 98, or through the chamber’s PayPal account, chamber@sanjuanisland.org.

In addition, this year businesses can sign on as an official sponsor of the 2013 fireworks show and boost their profile within the community by contributing $1,000. Sign up to be a sponsor by calling the Chamber, 378-5240.
