Island Rec K-6 after school program to begin Aug. 29

Popular with children and convenient for parents, the STAR program, supervised by Diana Feinson, coordinator for all Island Rec School's Out programs, like Camp Eagle Rock and School's Out Camp, operates on all regular school days, as well as early release days, in the elementary school cafeteria, from the end of the school day until 6 p.m.

This year’s after school Study Time and Afternoon Recreation program, sponsored by Island Rec, begins Aug. 29, in conjunction with the first day of school at Friday Harbor Elementary School.

Popular with children and convenient for parents, the STAR program, supervised by Diana Feinson, coordinator for all Island Rec School’s Out programs, like Camp Eagle Rock and School’s Out Camp, operates on all regular school days, as well as early release days, in the elementary school cafeteria, from the end of the school day until 6 p.m.

The program includes, free play, organized recreational and educational activities, structured homework time, craft or cooking activities, and a snack. It also featured flexible drop-in attendance, monthly billing, affordable daily rates that are intended to meet the needs of working parents; scholarships are available for qualifying families.
