Isaac Taylor, a 2009 graduate of Friday Harbor High School, recently completed the commercial diving program at Louisiana Technical College, Young Memorial Campus, in Morgan City, La.

Taylor has been hired by Bisso Marine, based in Houston, Texas, as a tender on a saturation dive support vessel.

Taylor is the son of Arlene Taylor of Friday Harbor and the brother of Megan Taylor of Goldendale and Courtney Taylor of Friday Harbor. He played attack for the San Juan Dragons lacrosse team for four years, was the team co-captain, and was a scoring leader in Division II of the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association.

Taylor became a certified diver in Friday Harbor at age 14 and worked locally as a dive master for the local dive shop. He did dock repair, scrubbed hulls, and changed out props and zincs.

He received scholarships from the Masonic Lodge, the San Juan Island School District and Arthur McGavran, the San Juan Lions Club, and the Island Scholarship Fund. He thanks the scholarship donors for their generosity “which helped make this achievement possible.”

He also thanks his family and friends, and the island community, for their continued support and for believing in him.
