On Jan. 1, the new Washington State Electronic Products law took effect, requiring manufacturers of electronic products sold in Washington to provide free collection of computers, laptops, monitors, and televisions in at least one location within each county in the state.

San Juan County offered to negotiate a contract with electronic products manufacturers to utilize its three solid waste transfer stations (Lopez Island, Orcas Island, San Juan Island) for periodic “round ups” to collect unwanted E-products for recycling. The offer was declined.

At this time, the only collection center in San Juan County is C.T. Recycling (Consignment Treasures) on San Juan Island. For more information, call C.T. Recycling, 370-5562.
