Submitted by Yes for Library Levy

The political committee, Yes for Library Levy, is hosting a forum on Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mullis Community Senior Center to answer questions from the public about Proposition 1, the San Juan Island Library levy adjustment proposal, that is on the August 6 ballot.

Proposition 1 reads:

The Board of Trustees of the San Juan Island Library District adopted Resolution No. 1-2024 proposing to increase its regular property tax levy. This proposition would enable the District to maintain current levels of operations and maintenance of the San Juan Island Library and accommodate moderate growth in future years by increasing its regular property tax levy rate to $0.41 per thousand dollars of assessed value for collection in 2025. The resulting dollar amount of the 2025 levy would be used for the purpose of computing subsequent levy limitations as provided by Chapter 84.55 RCW.

Should this proposition be approved?

Boyd Pratt will moderate the discussion. Members of the campaign committee will be on hand to answer questions and listen to your concerns.

You can find more information about the levy at www.yesforlibrarylevy.org or at the San Juan Island Library website https://www.sjlib.org/levylidlift/ including a list of more than 500 endorsers.

We look forward to seeing you at the Mullis Center, 589 Nash Street, on Thursday, July 25 at 5:30 p.m.
