Geraldine (Jerrie) Percich, 82, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Life Care Center in Friday Harbor, surrounded by her family.
Jerrie was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Whitewood, S.D. to Gerald and Mary Hammond. The family moved to Friday Harbor in 1944.
In 1947 she married Marty “Honey” Percich. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 5, 2012.
Jerrie devoted her life to her children and her husband. She will be remembered for her laughter and joy, her love of life, dancing, wild flowers, beachcombing in the summer and the infamous lipstick! She had a heart of gold and was truly genuine.
For the last 30 years, when not wintering in Lake Havasu, Ariz., Jerrie and Marty lived at Percich Pond on Wold Road. They, together with Walt and Jean Heidenreich, built the lake in 1972 and their cabin was always full of friends and family.
She was a great hostess, fantastic cook and loved to decorate especially at Christmas time. We will remember her with a book in her lap and glass of white wine in her hand.
She is survived by her husband Marty, her daughter Peggy Olver, son Robert (Sally) Percich, daughter Susan Patterson, son William (Monica) Percich, and son Anthony (Carrie) Percich; as well as nine grand-children: Alison (Chad) Schepel, Brian (Daniel) Olver, Lyndsey Patterson, Kelsey Percich, Brett (Sandra) Percich, Erica Percich, Mary (Jon) Hurley, Kendall Percich, Carly Percich; and seven great-grandchildren.
Additionally, she is survived by her five sisters: Eunice (Eido) Normet, Lois (Noel) Gallanger, Helaine Gallanger, Ruth (David) Cox, and LouAnn (Charles) Gilbert, as well as brother Bruce (Carol) Hammond.
Memorials may be made in Jerrie’s name to the American Heart Association.
