Diana Mancel to direct SJCT volunteers

San Juan Community Theatre’s newest employee is no stranger to the performing arts or the Theatre.

Diana Mancel, the theatre’s newly hired volunteer coordinator, worked part-time as front-of-house-manager for the theatre when she first moved to San Juan Island in 2008.

She moved to the mainland the following year and after three-year tour of “America” returned to Friday Harbor and to the theatre as well, where she has volunteered her time, as well as volunteering at the historical museum.

Mancel has also been employed at Susie’s Mopeds, Coho Restaurant and Schooners North sailing charters since relocating to the island.

As volunteer coordinator, Mancel’s duties include recruiting, training and retaining SJCT’s volunteers—more than 250—who play a key role not only as actors, but also in helping to build sets and manning the theatre box office.
