Conservation District seeks contractors

Submitted by The San Juan Islands Conservation District.

Are you a contractor providing landscaping, handyman, forestry or construction services in San Juan County? The San Juan Islands Conservation District is seeking qualified contractors for hire to implement a variety of projects that help local residents improve the conditions of their forests and farms and make homes more resistant to wildfire.

SJICD is building a roster of local businesses available to do this work and wants you on that list! Help us get you hired by completing a short survey found on our website: sanjuanislandscd.org/contact-us. Completing the survey indicates your interest in being added to the SJICD recommended service provider list. Contractors will generally be hired directly by landowners and homeowners, but projects will be held to standards provided by SJICD.

The Conservation District provides funding for a variety of projects that help county residents improve the natural resources on their lands. These projects include agricultural infrastructure (livestock fencing, composting facilities, manure storage facilities, irrigation, drainage, and heavy-use areas requiring concrete and gravel application); forest health improvements (tree thinning, fuels reduction, biomass processing); and wildfire prevention around structures (brush trimming, attic vent upgrades, gutter maintenance, fence repair, landscaping with rockwork and fire-resistant plants, and general cleanup of combustibles).

We encourage you to complete the short survey and become part of our network of dedicated conservation professionals. Let’s work together to ensure the beauty, health and environmental integrity of the San Juan Islands for generations to come.
