Please join us for a benefit dinner to help defray medical costs for long-time high school teacher, Greg Sawyer, as he is preparing for a kidney transplant operation.
The event is Oct. 2, 5 p.m., at the Roche Harbor Pavilion. Dinner is $10 for kids/students and $15 for adults.
Through this event, we’re hoping to raise awareness throughout the community regarding organ and tissue donation. This will be geared to all ages and we encourage you to bring your family and invite your friends.
This chance to help Greg Sawyer is my way of giving back a little of what was given to my family in 2001 when we went through the same challenges Greg faces today. My grandmother donated a kidney to my dad, Gordy Waite, because he needed a transplant. The amazing support we received from our family, friends and this community helped us get through this experience smoothly.
Here are some ways that you too can help. We are looking for items for a drawing or a silent auction at the event. If you have an item or service that you can donate to this cause, please contact Hannah Waite, Genevieve Iverson, or Catherine Bevens: hannah.waite@hotmail.com, genevieveiverson@gmail.com, bevs2010@hotmail.com.
Other ways to help out:
— Come to our fund-raiser dinner on Oct. 2 at 5 p.m. at the Roche Harbor Pavilion. Tickets will be sold at Wolverine football games Sept. 18 and 25. They are also available though Genevieve, Catherine, and Hannah at the high school. Do not hesitate to call.
— Donate an item for a drawing or to be auctioned.
— Buy tickets for a drawing at the dinner.
— Donate a ferry ticket or two.
— Donate your time to help organize before or during the dinner.
Thank you for supporting a favorite teacher. See you on Oct. 2.
