Submitted by the San Juan County Department of Emergency Management
Service was fully restored by Lumen late last night. Apparent cause was two simultaneous accidental fiber cuts on the mainland that impacted both primary and back-up routing.
There appeared to be a disruption to land line telephone access to 911 as of 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. Note that 911 dispatchers are receiving notice of the attempted call and will call back any callers after they hang up.
Cell phones appeared to be working fine.
Please do not make any test calls as this could interfere with an actual emergency call.
Lumen was notified and investigated the cause of the disruption.
