Island babies enjoyed the annual Halloween party at the Family Resource Center, Tuesday.
“They were very cute and everyone had a good time,” Family Resource Center director Joyce Sobel said.
More Halloween activities are planned this week.
The Friday Harbor Elementary School students’ annual costume parade is Friday, 1 p.m., on Spring Street.
Friday at 7 p.m., the San Juan Island Library will host a special showing of “Freaky Friday” (rated G), so grab some Halloween candy and show up for a free viewing.
On Saturday, Islands Convalescent Center residents will give candy to with trick-or-treaters. The neighborhood of Spruce and Rose streets, off Argyle Avenue, will be decked out for trick-or-treaters. Park on Argyle Avenue.
Rounding out the festivities is Island Rec’s Teen Halloween Party, 7:30-10 p.m., at the fairgrounds.

Kiwanis Club collects candy donations
The Kiwanis Club of Friday Harbor is collecting donations of Halloween candy from the community to be distributed to the residents of those Friday Harbor neighborhoods which are most likely to be invaded by legions of fairy princesses, ghouls and goblins Saturday.
Kiwanis has been doing this fall project for more than 10 years. Last year, 165 homes received bags of candy contributed by islanders.
Collection barrels for candy donations have been placed at Friday Harbor Drug, Market Place and Whidbey Island Bank. The donations of sweets will be separated into individualized bags for each home, and several days before Halloween, Kiwanis Club members will walk through the neighborhoods and deliver the bags to residents to hand out later to children.
This is one of a number of projects Kiwanis performs in providing service to children and the community.
14th annual Harvest Party Saturday
Dress up your children in kid-friendly outfits (nothing ghoulish or bloody) and bypass the crowded streets for a fun and rewarding evening at Islands Community Church, Saturday, 5-7 p.m.
Every child will receive a trick-or-treat bag with prizes inside and can sit for a free photo. Free carnival games with candy prizes include mini-golf, bowling, glow-in-the-dark target shooting, Spin and Win, pin-the-bug-on-the-frog, and dart dare. There is no limit to the number of times children can visit each game.
The food area will offer free apple juice, cookies, hot popcorn and slushies. Hot dogs and corndogs will be sold for $1 as a fund-raiser for mission programs.
Adults can rest in the pie area while their children have fun in a safe environment.
