It’s not named Yellow Island for nothin’.
And you can get a first-hand look at why that is, when San Juan Historical Museum sponsors a trip to the island and wildflower tour, Sunday, May 19, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Managed by the Nature Conservancy since 1979, Yellow Island is covered with more than 50 species of wildflowers and features open fescue meadows.
The tour departs Shipyard Cove, on the Pintail, at 10 a.m., returning at about 3 p.m. Tickets are $20; available at the museum, 420 Price Street, or online, at, http://sjmuseum.org/purchase-tickets/. Space is limited.
Tour-goers are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and water. For more info, visit, http://sjmuseum.org/.
