The Whale Museum’s Education Department Volunteer Open House

Submitted by The Whale Museum

The Whale Museum is holding a series of open houses for anyone interested in volunteering with the museum’s education department. The open house events will be held on the following dates and times:

– Saturday, Jan. 27, 2 p.m. -3 p.m.

– Monday, Feb. 12, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.

– Wednesday, March 7, 1 p.m.-2 p.m.

If you have some spare time and are interested in our marine ecosystem, this is the perfect opportunity. Education department staff will be available to discuss volunteer opportunities and answer questions. Light refreshments will be served.

On-site volunteer opportunities include becoming a docent to educate visitors and youth about marine mammals as well as serving as preschool and elementary teaching assistants. No experience is necessary – training will be provided. Scheduling can be flexible although most school groups typically visit the museum from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on weekdays so that would be the most needed time.
