The holidays visit Lime Kiln

Snow and freezing temperatures couldn’t keep islanders away from the Friends of Lime Kiln Lighthouse Society’s Jingle and Mingle holiday festival Sunday, Dec. 18.

FOLKS is a local non-profit whose mission is to provide a unique experience for visitors through the support and development of educational programs and activities related to the park, according to the website.

The event lasted from 1-4 p.m. at Lime Kiln State Park. By 2:30 p.m. over 80 people had visited the gift store. Those numbers did not include those who only visited the lighthouse. Activities ranged from photos with Santa to refreshments, tours of the lighthouse and a silent auction. If attendees participated in the ugly sweater contest, they could win a Discovery Pass, giving them free parking at Lime Kiln and all Washington state public lands.
