The Cowsills and a tribute to John Denver light up Tokitae Stage

Submitted by Brickworks of Friday Harbor.

If you remember the TV hit series, “The Partridge Family”, then you know The Cowsills! And they’re coming to Friday Harbor’s Brickworks Tokitae Stage on Sunday, July 28. Joining The Cowsills is the talented Ted Vigil and his Tribute to John Denver. The show starts at 6 p.m.

The Cowsills consist of siblings Bill, Bob, Barry, John, Susan, and Paul who, in tandem with mom, Barbara, were one of the biggest pop acts of the late 1960s. Their origins lie with brothers, Bill and Bob, who began singing careers covering Everly Brothers hits. After their father gave them guitars they recruited two other brothers, Barry and John, to play bass and drums, respectively. When ‘Beatlemania’ dawned, the teen foursome began performing live at school dances and church socials throughout their native Newport, RI. The Cowsills signed with Mercury Records after an appearance on NBC’s ‘The Today Show.’

After their mother signed on in 1967, The Cowsills had their first million-selling single, “The Rain, the Park and Other Things” featured in Jim Carrey’s movie, “Dumb and Dumber,” and recorded the theme song for the TV show “Love, American Style.”

Still touring and performing and going strong after five decades, the Cowsills’ harmonies continue to soar and the family continues its legacy of providing joy.

Joining the Cowsills at Brickworks is Seattle-born Ted Vigil. Raised in the Olympia area, Vigil has been performing since the age of 10 and developed his skills as a drummer and singer in concert, symphonic, and jazz bands.
