Our tree lighting was a touch different this year due to the sad demise of the big tree in Memorial Park. Despite the circumstances, the Town made the most of it and presented us with a unique tree with twinkling lights. When the tree was lit the crowd cheered!
Riptide Café provided cocoa, cookies and treats to keep us warm on cold night. The evening’s entertainment by the Elementary School ‘Treblemakers”, led by Shannon Danskine, a sing-a-long with Kira Sable, and a visit by Santa to light the tree made for a fun-filled evening for the crowd. The San Juan Island Fire Department made a special appearance and escorted Santa to Town and onto to Brickworks after, where Island Rec had a craft project for the children while they waited for pictures with Santa.
A special thank you to Benj Ross, Julie, Denice and James from the Town of Friday Harbor, Kira, Shannon, RipTide Café, the SJC Sheriff and deputies, the SJC Fire Department and Island Rec for helping to make this annual event a success!
On behalf of the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce, I thank you all!
