But someone will be crowned king, or queen, of San Juan Island ping pong players after the dust settles. Maybe that’s you?

Bragging rights will be up for grabs when Island Rec hosts its first-ever table tennis tournament, Sunday, March 18. A round-robin format, the competition gets underway at 11 a.m. at Friday Harbor High School’s Turnbull Gym.

All skill levels can participate and players of equal skill will be matched against one another as competition progresses.

Register by March 14 to take advantage of an early entry fee, $15; it’s $20 after that. The tournament requires a minimum of players and allows for a maximum of 20. Prizes await top finishers of each bracket.
