Island Rec offers two summer soccer camps

Island Rec staff will offer two youth soccer camps: Western Washington University Summer Soccer Camp and Technical Training with coach Van.

WWU Soccer Camp

Players will receive individual instruction, on the island, from WWU women’s soccer coaches and players, who are the 2016 National Collegiate Athletic Association DII national champs. This co-ed camp costs $55 is designed for players of all levels, ages 11-14. The focus will be on individual skill and small group tactical decision making. The camp will be 12:30-2 p.m., Tuesday, July 3 and 12:30-2 p.m., Thursday July 5 at Linde Park Field.

Technical Training

Island Rec and Friday Harbor FC will host this co-ed three-week technical training in July to prepare players ages 11-18 for the fall Friday Harbor FC soccer season. This clinic is for the serious young soccer player looking to continually improve their game. This will be an intense, no-nonsense clinic that is competitive and technically focused. This program will be instructed by Van, a professionally licensed soccer coach who has numerous years of experience and currently is the coaching director for Friday Harbor FC. A minimum of eight registrants is needed by the early registration deadline of July 19 for $33 or $38 thereafter. Ages 11-15 will meet from 4-5:30 p.m., Thursdays, Aug. 2-16. Ages 16-18 will meet from 5:30-7 p.m., Thursdays, Aug. 2-16.
