SJIMA’s First Nation Artists Collection on display at Friday Harbor Airport

Submitted by San Juan Islands Museum of Art

The San Juan Islands Museum of Art is exhibiting selections from SJIMA’s First Nation Artists Collection at the Friday Harbor Airport Terminal from Summer 2024 through Spring 2025. We were hoping this exhibit could be announced & highlighted in The Journal. Travelers to and from Friday Harbor have an excellent opportunity to view these beautiful works of art by contemporary artists of Coastal Pacific Northwest Tribes.

These are artworks by a new generation of First Nation artists and their honored mentors. Visitors passing through Friday Harbor’s Airport Terminal can see and hear the voices of the artist’s ancestors speak through the works of these exceptional artists. SJIMA is extremely grateful to the Port of Friday Harbor for hosting this display!

SJIMA’s First Nation Artists Collection was exhibited at the museum in 2017 and selections will join a host of additional works by contemporary artists of

Coastal Pacific Northwest Tribes in Summer, 2025 as part of SJIMA’s 20th anniversary celebration.
