Voter forums for candidates on the ballot for the August 6 primary election will be sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the San Juans.
The Friday Harbor forum will take place on Monday, July 8 at the San Juan Grange.
from 5:30-7 p.m. The Orcas forum will be Wednesday, July 10 at the Orcas Senior Center from 5 to 7 p.m. The Lopez forum will be Monday, July 15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Grace episcopal Church.
Four candidates for State Senate District 40 are vying for two places on the November ballot. They are Liz Lovelett, Carrie Blackwood, Greta Aitken and Daniel Miller.
There are three candidates for Port of Orcas Commission position 1. They are Heidi LaPuzza, Pierrette Guimond and Clyde Duke. The top two vote getters will appear on the November ballot.
The State Senate candidates have been invited to forums on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan. The port commission candidates have been invited to Orcas only.
For all other positions to be filled in November, there will be no primary because there are only one or two declared candidates for each position.
Ballots for the August 6 primary are to be mailed July 18.
