The much-anticipated annual Knowledge Bowl returns to San Juan Island on Tuesday, March 5, promising an evening filled with intellectual excitement and community engagement. Hosted by Mason Turnage, this event is a unique combination of Jeopardy-style competition and the spirited atmosphere of old college quiz bowls.
The event will take place at the San Juan Community Theatre, with the Friday Harbor High School Jazz Band setting the stage with musical entertainment at 6:30 p.m., followed by the questions at 7 p.m.
Seven teams will be featured, including the Friday Harbor Middle School 8th graders, combined teams of 9th and 10th graders, and 11th and 12th graders from Friday Harbor High School, the Soroptimists, Rotary Club, Lions, and Kiwanis. The SJPSF is grateful to Banner Bank for being a team sponsor.
The evening promises engaging questions spanning geography, history, pop culture, local fare, and more. Attendees can also enjoy treats from the middle school PTO bake sale and participate in a fundraising raffle with grand prizes, including a day of golf for 4 at the San Juan Golf and Tennis Club, a Roche Harbor getaway, and an Xbox Series S Console.
Floyd Bourne, Director of the San Juan Public Schools Foundation, extends a spirited invitation: “Join us and cheer for your favorite team! This event is a festive community celebration, perfect for all ages to enjoy.”
Admission to the event is $5, and doors open at 6:15 p.m. All proceeds directly support the SJPS Foundation, which advocates for educational excellence, teacher support, and student success.
