When Dorothy Robinson’s friend, Lorna Trump, didn’t show up for lunch at Mullis Community Senior Center, her antenna went up. When a call to Trump’s home phone yielded no answer, she took action. She recruited help and went to her friend’s house, where they found the friend in medical distress.

Everybody knows Dorothy Robinson! She volunteers all over town, at the Senior Center, at the Chamber of Commerce, at the county fair, and for the American Legion Auxiliary. What some may not know about Dorothy is that she is a loyal friend and an everyday hero.

No one knows that better than Dorothy’s friend Lorna Trump. One evening Lorna tripped and fell at home. She had broken her shoulder and was unable to get up or to crawl to the phone. The consequences for Lorna could have been very serious if she didn’t have a good friend like Dorothy looking out for her.

At Senior Lunch the next day, Dorothy was concerned when she didn’t see her friend, Lorna. Lorna usually volunteers to help with the lunch. When Dorothy called her friend there was no answer. Some might have shrugged and given up at that point, but not Dorothy.

Dorothy got help to break into Lorna’s house. No easy task to convince Terry Sanders that he should use a crow bar to break into Lorna’s house. Terry called the sheriff and warned him that he was about to break into Lorna’s house. The EMTs were called and, thanks to Dorothy, Lorna was flown off the island to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Lorna is now resting comfortably in the Convalescent Center recovering from her accident.
