The eighth annual Friday Harbor Fall Farm Parade will be on Saturday, Oct. 7. The parade will stage from 1:30 to 2:30 at the San Juan County Fairgrounds, and start onto Argyle Avenue at 2:30 p.m., heading down Spring Street and turning onto First Street to go to the Grange hall.
This year’s theme is “A Community of Growers,” referring to our local Grange’s slogan, “a community of growers since 1931.” Parade participation is open to all. We welcome farm trucks, wheelbarrows, tractors, horses, other livestock on leads, marchers with signs, and groups with banners.
The Grange hall will be open after the parade, with a ribbon-cutting for our new deck “with the million-dollar view” occurring at 4:30 p.m. Participants are invited to stay for a farm-to-Grange dinner starting at 5 p.m., with main dishes provided by local farms and side dishes brought potluck by island residents.
