Singer/songwriter Carolyn Cruso weaves a web with her intricate finger picking, poetic lyrics and elegant vocals. She plays at the Rumor Mill at 175 First St., this Thursday, Aug. 17, from 6-9 p.m. While Cruso’s sound is all her own, she has been compared to artists such as Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt and Rory Block. Her lyrics, spanning from poetic to narrative, explore love, loss and regeneration, with a canny eye for the humor within.
She masterfully lays these over a guitar style that incorporates intricate finger picking and rhythmic grooves. Her use of open tuning allows her to find the rich voicing in the chords she hears.
The Eugene Weekly calls her music, “Intricate musical poetry…fine guitar work.” Her show, like her music, is timeless and transportive in nature. Learn more at www.carolyncruso.com.
