Rotary’s “36 Weekends”—Food for local children—selected for SJI Cares County Fair Fundraiser

Submitted by Rotary

Help us multiply our impact on child nutritional needs by contributing to the San Juan Community Foundations SJI Cares campaign at the County Fair. Our goal is to raise $10,000 and the SJICF will match the first $1,000 donated for our “36 Weekends” campaign.

The non-profit that raises the most money on August 15 will receive a bonus of $500 from the Community Foundation. The non-profit that has the largest number of donors on Aug. 16 will receive the same bonus. The match program starts Thursday at 12:01 p.m. Help us feed island kids by clicking the link below during the Fair.

Why fund “36 Weekends”?

Help us prepare for the increased need for supplemental weekend food for families. “36 Weekends” has expanded to 52 Weekends. It costs Rotary approximately $45,000 a year to help up to 70 children receive food on the weekends when school lunch programs are not available. Raising this money every year is a challenge for our small club.

To be able to consider offering additional food items including more fresh foods complementary to the current foods we include in our weekend food packages.

Check out SJICares.org for other games being offered during the Fair including the Aug. 19 Game: All fair donors entered in final drawing to award $500 bonus to a charity of choice. See you at the Fair!
