The popular magazine Every Day with Rachael Ray features Friday Harbor and the Pig War Picnic in a feature article entitled “Happy Birthday America: The Best Red, White & Boom(!) Celebrations.” The article appears in the June through July issue on newsstands now.

The article includes a photo of the Kiwanis Club’s picnic banner in the Fourth of July parade, the San Juan Historical Museum and Friday Harbor House.

Destinations from around the country were considered for the article and eight were chosen.  Friday Harbor is number four on a list that also includes Juneau, Alaska, Bristol, R.I., Roswell, N.M., Atlanta, Ga., Napa, Calif., Savannah, Ga., and Naperville, Ill.
