The San Juan Islands Museum of Art will hold a three-day pastel workshop, this summer. A minimum of eight students can attend the class, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 21-23 at the museum at 540 Spring St. The class, titled Introduction to Plein Air Landscape Painting in Pastels, will be taught by Steve Hill. He refers to pastels as paintings, not drawings. He is a member of the Northwest Pastel Society and a plein air painter and studio artist from Lopez.
“My passion is to find special places…and explore these with every element of my psyche dialed into the joyous, expressive and interpretive language of painting on site,” said Hill.
The class costs $300 and registration is due on July 7. Register at www.sjima.org/learn. For questions, contact Malinda at 378-2918.
