Climb aboard the Odyssey Thursday, June 20, and enjoy a three-hour cruise among the islands of San Juan Channel on the longest day of the year, the summer Solstice, and help support the first-ever Friday Harbor film festival all at the same time.

San Juan Excursions is donating use of the Odyssey for the evening in support of San Juan Island-based Pacific Islands Research Institute, the non-profit group coordinating The Friday Harbor Film Festival, entitled “Stories of the Pacific Rim”, Oct. 11-13.

The cruise is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., departing from Spring Street Landing

In addition to the San Juans’ unmatched scenery, the Solstice cruise includes the sizzling sounds of Teddy Deane on saxophone, savory appetizers, sweet treats and beer from Island Hopping Brewery, white wine from Spring Street General Store and assorted beverages donated also by San Juan Excursions.

The Friday Harbor Film Festival will feature award-winning documentaries highlighting the diversity of the Pacific Rim, its cultures, adventures, island cultures, environment and human-interest stories. Many of the filmmakers will be in Friday Harbor to introduce their documentaries, participate in Q & A’s with audiences, and art of documentary filmmaking will be the subject of a workshop in conjunction with the three-day festival of film. The event will also feature an art gallery walk and special segment of children’s films.
