The San Juan Islands Sculpture Park will host its last bird walk of the year on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 8-10 a.m. Join Tyler Davis, our birding expert for the event. Tyler tells us “with migration all but behind us, we’ll use October’s birdwalk to become reacquainted with wintering residents, some of which have been away for the summer, breeding in the north or in the mountains. After October, there will be a pause on the monthly walks until next April – but don’t let that keep you from visiting and birding on your own! There will be plenty to see here throughout the winter months, including numerous species of returning ducks and geese on the pond and bay.
Bird walks will be every first Wednesday of the month through October. Bring binoculars and comfortable walking shoes.
The Sculpture Park at Roche Harbor is open from dawn to dusk. All are welcome, including children and dogs. There is no admission, but donations are greatly appreciated.
The park is located at 9083 Roche Harbor Road, San Juan Island, WA 98250. More info at www.sjisculpturepark.com.
