LSJI leads the way build building a Peer-to-Peer Leadership Network on San Juan Island

Submitted by Leadership San Juan.

Non-profit organizations are the lifeblood of our islands, providing social and educational support, environmental care, health and welfare services and food security – essential elements for a thriving community. Island NPO leaders are expected to be adaptable, resourceful and able to communicate their organization’s mission to engage all stakeholders – clients, volunteers, board members and donors.

Leaders will benefit from the opportunity to engage in this co-designed learning community with access to leadership training, non-profit resources and a network of support that can help build capacity and broaden their community engagement.

Leadership San Juan Islands has been providing leadership development since 2004 and many LSJI Alumni are connected to island non-profit organizations. LSJI’s seasoned team of leadership development professionals will host in-person and virtual meet-ups in October, bringing Managers/Directors and Board Leaders together to identify capacity-building interests and organizational needs that will inform the Peer-to-Peer Program design. Our facilitators will host monthly learning and networking events for all San Juan Island NPO leaders, beginning late 2023 and in 2024.

Leadership San Juan Islands is raising money for this project as part of the San Juan Island Community Foundation’s 2023 County Fair Giving Campaign. Our request is for $6500. Funding is for design, materials, facilitation and convening expenses. Through this program, the first $1,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Community Foundation and LSJI is also eligible for up to $2,500 in bonus grants awarded throughout the fair. To be eligible for matching funds, donations to LSJI must be made during the four days of the 2023 County Fair – Aug. 16 – 19. Your support is greatly appreciated.
