London Theatre in HD at SJCT

Submitted by San Juan Community Theatre

A contemporary drama from London is the next HD presentation at San Juan Community Theatre at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec.16.

National Theatre Live presents “The Deep Blue Sea,” featuring Helen McCrory (“Medea,” “Penny Dreadful,” “Peaky Blinders”) and Tom Burke (“War and Peace,” “The Musketeers”) in director Carrie Cracknell’s critically acclaimed new production.

The setting is in a West London flat in 1952. When Hester Collyer is found by her neighbors in the aftermath of a failed suicide attempt, the story of her tempestuous affair with a former Royal Air Force pilot and the breakdown of her marriage to a high court judge begins to emerge. With it, comes a portrait of need, loneliness and long-repressed passion. Behind the fragile veneer of post-war civility burns a brutal sense of loss and longing. Tickets for “The Deep Blue Sea” are $20 for adults, $18 for SJCT members and $10 for student reserved.

Due to a financial agreement with the Met, no SJCT coupons are accepted for these productions. Buy tickets at www.sjctheatre.org or the SJCT Box Office at 378-3210.
