The Jim Basnight Band is being flown to New York City by Disclosed Records on Monday for CD release parties in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
Basnight and company, who perform through the summer on Fridays and Saturdays, 9 p.m., in Roche Harbor’s Madrona Grill, are scheduled to perform Tuesday night at the Beauty Bar Brooklyn and Wednesday at Otto’s Shrunken Head Tiki Bar & Lounge in Manhattan. They’ll return to the island in time for their Friday performance at Roche Harbor.
With Basnight will be drummer Brad “Mr. D” Dolsen and Michael Rollins on bass.
The release parties celebrate the CD “We Rocked and Rolled / The First 25 Years With Jim Basnight: The Moberlys and Beyond.”
“This is a huge step,” said Basnight, 52, a former stockbroker. “I moved to New York City when I was 19 to pursue music, and I’ve been pursuing music and supporting myself as a musician for the last 17 years.”
The Jim Basnight Band performs 200 dates a year. The band has performed at Roche Harbor for seven years, and this year kicked off Island Rec’s Music on the Lawn concert series at the San Juan Historical Museum.
