Love, jealousy, betrayal, tyranny, power, persuasion, and more, Puccini weaves it all together in his operatic classic, “Tosca,” presented live in HD, Nov. 17, 2 p.m., at San Juan Community Theatre.

Patricia Racette stars in the title role of “Tosca”, the ill-fated jealous diva, with Roberto Alagna cast as her honorable yet doomed lover, Cavaradossi. The villainous Scarpia, the cold-hearted chief of the secret police, is played by George Gagnidze.

Set in Rome, against the backdrop of the early Napoleonic wars, “Tosca” traces the misfortune of its lead character as she gives way to jealousy and falls victim to those who would use it to further their own ends.
