It’s Easter Week; lots of activities and services planned

A busy schedule of Easter activities and services is planned this week, capped by Easter egg hunts at Jackson Beach and Roche Harbor.

A busy schedule of Easter activities and services is planned this week, capped by Easter egg hunts at Jackson Beach and Roche Harbor.

Here’s the schedule:

Friday
— Friday Harbor Egg-Dyeing Party, 5:30 p.m., Friday Harbor Fire Station. Children of all ages can help dye and decorate eggs for the annual Easter egg hunt at Jackson Beach on Sunday.

Saturday
— Elegant Edibles, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., San Juan Community Theatre. Homemade treats, including cakes, cookies and pies, will be sold to help fund the Community Arts Theatre Society (C.A.T.S.). Tulips will be for sale as well.

— Bits and Spurs Horse 4-H Bake Sale, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday Harbor MarketPlace. Proceeds support the club’s lessons, programs and members’ entry into the San Juan County Fair. There will be cakes, cookies and pies — just in time for Easter dinner.

— Roche Harbor Egg-Dyeing Party, 1 p.m., on the Roche Harbor party barge. Children of all ages can help dye and decorate 3,000 eggs for the annual Easter egg hunt in the Hotel de Haro gardens on Sunday.

— Teen Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt, 8:30-10 p.m., Friday Harbor High School football field. For children in grades 6-12. Bring a flashlight and basket for a night of games and an Easter egg hunt. Free. The hunt is sponsored by Island Rec.

Easter Sunday
— Easter Egg Hunt, 12:30 p.m., Roche Harbor Village in front of the Hotel de Haro. The Easter bunny will hippity hop in the gardens at 1 p.m. Easter egg hunts will be divided by age group and location: rose garden, ages 0-3; formal garden, ages 4-6; and upper half of the yellow brick road, ages 7-11. Prizes will be awarded to children who find the gold and silver eggs.

— Jelly Bean Count, Hotel de Haro. While you’re here for the festivities, count the number of jelly beans in the jar. The winner receives a jar of jelly beans and $20.

— Jackson Beach Easter Egg Hunt, 1 p.m., Jackson Beach. The Friday Harbor Fire Department hosts this annual beachside egg hunt. Age groups will be separated by fire tape. Prizes will be given out for the return of specially marked eggs.

— Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church, 6:30 p.m., 425 Spring St. A celebration of the Lord’s Supper, traditional hymns, and prayer of confessions followed by a sermon, “Am I Willing to Have My Feet Washed,” from Pastor Joe Bettridge.

Good Friday
— St. David’s Episcopal Church, 6 p.m., 780 Park St.

— Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church, noon, 425 Spring St.. A meditative service contemplating the Cross of Christ. There will be a time of healing prayer following the service.

— St. Francis Catholic Church, 7 p.m., 425 Price St. The church is offering a communion service and veneration of the Cross.

Saturday
— St. Francis Catholic Church, 8-10 p.m., 425 Price St. Easter vigil.

— St. David’s Episcopal Church, 9 p.m., 780 Park St.

Easter Sunday
— Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church, 6:30 a.m., Sunrise Service at Carter Ranch on San Juan Valley Road. Look for the Sunrise Service sign a half mile from the airport on the left hand side of the road. Easter breakfast will follow at 7:30 a.m. at Friday Harbor Presbyterian Church. Easter worship starts at 10 a.m. with choir and praise band.

— Lutheran Church of the San Juans, 8 a.m., 425 Price St. (St. Francis Catholic Church).

— Calvary Chapel San Juan, 9 a.m., San Juan Community Theatre. Special music by Tim and Miranda Brinkman (visit www.fishers.com for more information about their music). A free continental breakfast will be served following the service.

— Christ the King Community Church, 9 a.m., 265 Price St. (Paideia Classical School).

— Grace Christian Fellowship, 9:30 a.m., Mullis Community Senior Center. Easter brunch followed by a service with gospel music singers Josie and Wilf Lambert.
