Reportedly 170,000 people attended the Women’s March in Seattle, 55 of those were San Juan Islanders who caught the 6:25 a.m. boat, and rented a bus for the day.
“I am feeling less stressful and more hopeful,” attendee Patty Brightman said afterward, “because this march showed we are not alone. There are so many people across this country and around the world who feel the same way, and who are fighting against injustice.”
On the way home, the islanders nearly missed the 5:20 p.m. ferry, but patient workers held the ferry a few extra minutes so they could walk on.
