The holidays can pass in a blink of an eye — and even quicker — a chance to see the Island Carolers.
These resident crooners have serenaded San Juan for one weekend before Christmas for almost three decades. This year’s 11-person choir resounded good tidings at the San Juan Island Library on Dec. 15, with acapella religious hymns, holiday pop songs and a medley of Yuletide classics.
Carolers start weekly practices in September to spread cheer by December at family gatherings, businesses and public events.
For Joelle Prochera, audiences’ enjoyment is the reason for the season.
“The idea of going around your community and caroling just sounds fun,” she said. “The gift we give is our songs and that feels really good.”
