Daniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in the popular film series, is featured in National Theatre Live’s “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead,” screened in HD at San Juan Community Theatre on Friday, June 2 at 7 p.m. Radcliffe, Joshua McGuire (“The Hour”) and David Haig (“Four Weddings and a Funeral,” “The Witness for the Prosecution”) star in Tom Stoppard’s funny situation comedy, which was recorded live from The Old Vic theater in London. David Leveaux’s new production marks the 50th anniversary of the play that made a young Tom Stoppard’s name overnight.
Against the backdrop of Hamlet, two hapless minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, take center stage. As the young double act stumble their way in and out of the action of Shakespeare’s iconic drama, they become increasingly out of their depth as their version of the story unfolds.
Tickets for the screening are $20 for adults, $18 for SJCT members and $10 for student reserved. Due to a financial agreement with the Met, no SJCT coupons are accepted for these productions. Tickets are available at www.sjctheatre.org or at the SJCT Box Office at 378-3210.
