Every year between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7, Medicare beneficiaries have an opportunity to review their coverage and make sure that their current plans will be right for them in the new year. Each year the plans change the premiums they charge, their copays, and their coverage networks.
The Statewide Health Insurance Beneficiary Advisors (“SHIBA”) volunteers on San Juan Island will present Get Ready for Open Enrollment, a free presentation designed to help you get the coverage that is best for you during this year’s open enrollment season. The presentation will be in-person on Tuesday, Sept. 19 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mullis Center, 589 Nash Street, Friday Harbor.
SHIBA volunteers provide unbiased information about Medicare. If you would like to schedule a free, confidential meeting with a San Juan Island SHIBA volunteer, call 360-375-0292 to set up an appointment.
The SHIBA program is part of the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner. SHIBA volunteers provide free, unbiased, and confidential counseling assistance. In San Juan County, SHIBA is sponsored by the Orcas Island Senior Center.
