This September, more than 100 boaters took advantage of a promotion offered by the Port of Friday Harbor.

Visitors who stayed in the marina for four nights over the summer received a fifth night at no charge.

The Port Commission approved this program to encourage boaters to visit the island during the slow season.  Harbormaster Tami Hayes said, if each of these boaters spent $100 in the community during their visit, local businesses would realize an additional $10,000 in sales.

“Boaters are really motivated to return to Friday Harbor because of our community’s reputation for great customer service,” said Hayes.
