Submitted by the Friday Harbor Film Festival
The Friday Harbor Film Festival is now seeking submissions for its Young Filmmakers Project.
This project is open to all students, from seventh grade to college freshman.
This year’s theme is “Pacific Connections.” Tell a story about how we are connected to the world — maybe with an environmental or social justice focus. Ensure films have a call to action or meaningful message that can entertain, inspire and enlighten audiences.
Submissions should be either a documentary or docudrama, which is the dramatization of real life events.
Submit three-to-five-minute long films at 108 OP, with a clear title, credited filmmakers and specified age category at www.filmfreeway.com/festival/FHFF in .mov .mp4 or .mpg. The only compression method that is accepted is H.264. Films not in English must have on-screen English subtitles.
Prizes include:
1. Screening of winning films at the Friday Harbor Film Festival and other related events hosted by the Friday Harbor Film Festival
2. Tickets to the Friday Harbor Film Festival 2017
3. Posting of winning films on the Friday Harbor Film Festival website and use of the film for any promotional materials and online media at its discretion
4. $500 for each winner
Age categories:
1. Grades 7-9
2. Grades 10-12
3. First year of college
Submissions are due on June 1 and winners will be notified on July 1. For more information visit: www.fhff.org/call-submissions-young-filmmakers-project/
