The final four sessions of Fall Family Art Days at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art are scheduled for Saturdays from Oct. 26 through Nov. 16, noon to 2 p.m. These sessions will explore three-dimensional art in hands-on projects led by multimedia artist and metal fabricator Lauryl Gaumer. Children accompanied by an adult are encouraged to participate in these free and fun workshops (adults are invited to make projects as well)! Visit www.sjima.org/familyartdays for more details. Registration is encouraged; drop-ins may be accommodated if there is room.
Oct. 26: Beetles and Bugs: Sculpt a variety of insects using wire, paper and clay.
Nov. 2: Metamorphosis: Inspired by M.C. Escher’s intricate art, let’s try our own metamorphosis by drawing 2D creatures, then sculpting them with clay.
Nov. 9: Finding Balance with the Mobile: Alexander Calder is our inspiration as we launch into creating our own sculptures with wire, paper and plastic.
Nov.16: Ferns and Flowers: Using paper and wire, we’ll sketch, sculpt and shape a variety of plants.
