Lonnie Acord, acclaimed adopted Tlingit Native American carver, will demonstrate carving from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Arctic Raven Gallery on 130 First Street as part of the fall festival, Artstock.
His latest creations are both human and critters using a subtle color palette, knife finish, abalone, horse hair and ermine fur details.
Acord’s work is often described as “surprising, evocative and unique” and ranges in carvings from a wide mouthed beaver frontlet to a raven dance wand with crouching figures along its edges.
You can meet Acord and enjoy local refreshments and live music from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
