San Juan’s instrumental group, Enso addresses international conflicts in their intense and rock-driven album “Stop Fighting.”

“Scarcely a day passes without our thoughts turning to Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, and other zones of conflict,” said Grisha Krivchenia, Enso’s composer and multi-instrumentalist. “‘Stop Fighting’ is an attempt to formulate a non-sectarian prayer for peace, one that extends beyond political and national affiliations.”

You can hear Enso, with two other local acts, Sonic Vandals and Kels Boreen, at the Knoll, located on Beaverton Valley Road, Wednesday, July 27, 6:30 p.m., for a pre-release of their new album.

Enso’s first CD “The Axioms,” released in April 2010, was filled with jazz and blues undertones, rich harmonies and lengthy improvised piano solos.

While on tour, they found themselves gravitating towards  heavier songs.

Their new songs take the rock idiom to the next level, by using catchy melodies and beats to hook the listener.

“We want the music to be immediately accessible, and yet we also want to create a thoroughly immersed emotional experience,” Krivchenia said. “We want you to close your eyes and lose yourself in the music.”

The band looks forward to their show at the Knoll for the “beautiful scenery and an engaged, music loving audience,” he said. “More than anything, we cherish the friendships and community that support the island music scene.”
