The mission of Nourish to Flourish is to end hunger on San Juan Island and make healthy food more affordable by helping low-income families stretch their food dollars. With the Thanksgiving Holiday coming up, the community leaders of Nourish to Flourish want to make sure all are familiar with Thanksgiving meals that are available at no charge to residents of San Juan Island on Wednesday, Nov. 24, the day before Thanksgiving.
The Mullis Senior Center will be doing its traditional Thanksgiving dinners as take-out or, weather permitting, on the decks outside of the center. The Meals on Wheels program will be delivering Thanksgiving meals to those who are on their regular stops.
The Food Bank is providing turkey and all the sides including desserts for those who are cooking their own Thanksgiving dinner.
The Family Resource Center is coordinating with the Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor to deliver their traditional Thanksgiving baskets of prepared meals to those households that are not on Meals on Wheels and are not able to prepare a meal.
Nourish to Flourish depends entirely on donations. The Soroptimist International of Friday Harbor recently donated $5000.00 to Fresh Bucks so that we can continue to support food access. We are asking the community for donations to match this generous donation in increments of $5.00, $50.00, $100.00, $250.00, or $500.00. Your donations will help to support our efforts throughout 2021. Please click on the donate button on the website www.nourishtoflourishwa.org or give through the Joyce L. Sobel Family Resource Center by noting Fresh Bucks on your donation. Every donation is 100% for food. As we struggle through this pandemic, please remember your neighbors and friends who may need help accessing nourishing food.
