Get outside with Land Bank staff and Andrea Jakus Wight, MPT, from PeaceHealth on Thursday, Sept. 19. Embrace the health benefits of walking in nature, connect with others, and rejuvenate your mind and body. Shut off the to-do list and take a step towards better health.
What to Expect: Andrea Jakus, a local physical therapist at Peace Island Medical, will be presenting on the benefits of Nordic walking for healthy individuals, as well as discuss the benefits Nordic walking can have on breast cancer survivors. Please bring your own pair of Nordic walking poles or general trekking poles if you have them; Andrea will provide Nordic boot tips for walkers to try and take home.
Andrea will start with a brief talk and demonstration, followed by a group walk through John O. Linde Community Park and the Land Bank’s new Redtail trail loop. Bring your poles, compressions sleeves (if you’re a breast cancer survivor with lymphedema), comfortable walking or running shoes, and enthusiasm! Andrea cannot wait to walk with you!
Meet at 6:30 p.m. by the clubhouse at Island Rec’s John O. Linde Community Park. Please dress for the weather and bring water/snacks to insure a comfortable walk.
Registration is required for this walk and capped at 15. Please email tanjaw@sjclandbank.org or phone 360-370-7655 to register or for further information.
*NOTE: In case of inclement weather, sessions will be cancelled. Registered participants will be notified by email.
